Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa with diverse landscape that include the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary. Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest is known for its 43m-tall waterfall and wildlife such as hippos. The port of entry in Uganda is Entebbe International airport that connects to a lot of safari destinations locally. Kidepo Valley National Park occupies rugged, semi arid valleys bordering Sudan and Kenya, and about 700km from Kampala. The park is home to big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. During the dry season, the only permanent water in the park is found in wetlands and remnant pools in the broad Narus Valley near Apoka. These seasonal oases, combined with the open, savannah terrain, make the Narus Valley the park’s prime game viewing location
The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park is a large forest located in south-western Uganda in the Kanungu District. The park is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is known for the 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world& no. 39’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas. Kibale National park is one of Africa’s foremost research sites. While many researchers focus on the chimpanzees and other primates found in the park, others are investigating Kibale’s ecosystems, wild pigs and fish species, among other topics. It contains one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. The park is famously known for Chimpanzee tracking The park is home to a total of 70 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate including the chimpanzee. It also contains over 375 species of birds.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is the second largest and most biodiverse park in Uganda as wel as the country’s most popular safari destination. It encompasses a huge array of different landscapes, including wetlands, swamps and crater lakes, tropical forests, wood and open savannah,that support a diverse range of wildlife. Popular animals include highlights include; elephant sand buffalo, Ugandan kob, sitatunga, giant forest hog and topi – with the highlight being the tree-climbing lions found in the south of the park. In addition to game drives on the open savannah, you can also do boat cruises to see hippos and crocodiles and hike through rainforest to find chimpanzees
